Wednesday, April 21 at 1:00pm is the virtual premiere of my new song cycle, Five Songs from Anna Berkowitz, performed by soprano Jardena Gertler-Jaffe and pianist Diana Borshcheva. Commissioned by the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research, these are five arrangements of Yiddish folksongs that were recorded by the ethnomusicologist Ruth Rubin in 1955 and 1961 from the singing of Anna Berkowitz in Montreal. Thank you to Alex Weiser and everyone at YIVO for this incredible invitation to work with the materials from the Ruth Rubin Archive.

The video will remain online after the premiere, both on YouTube and Facebook.

You can order a copy of the CD from your local record store, buy it directly from Albany Records, or download it on iTunes.

Special thanks to Eve Kochen Budnick and the Rivers School Conservatory for commissioning and premiering this piece in 2017 at their annual Seminar on Contemporary Music.
